This short guide answers common library lending questions for new patrons. For full policy detail, see the main Reading Habits page.
Sign up at your local branch. Bring identification and ask staff to create an account so you can borrow books.
Most print books can be borrowed for a few weeks. You can usually renew items online if nobody else is waiting.
If your library does not have a book, staff can try to borrow it from another library system. Pick it up when it arrives.
This companion page now lists the same concrete loan rules as the main Reading Habits guide: standard loan period is 21 days, up to two renewals when no hold queue exists, and interlibrary loan requests carry a $3 processing fee when the item ships from outside the county network.
